P-How is the tour going?

M- It has been amazing for a while. We started in the UK about a week. Shows had been great, crowds had been great. And, this had been the longest European tour so far, it had been two months, so we had a lot of local acts, which were amazing. Then, we had been headlining the first part of the tour, the second will be the “Bad boys for life tour”, The bones, Street Dogs, Left Alone, so, we are very excited.

P- So, and there has been any new place where you haven’t been before

M- Oh damn, we gonna be playing in Rockola… Poland. We hadn’t been that far before so it’s gonna be fascinating so we expected to kids come from there in mass and have a good show there.

P- And there’s any place where you know that, when touring, you can play like 10 times in a week and you’ll sure get a great crowded show? Like you have got a big bunch of fans…

M- Stockholm, Sweden, certain sections of Germany, Check Republic, we are pretty strong there, and, we are finding that in this tour, we feel ourselves also that we’re growing in Spain. Yesterday we were at the Basc Country, Arrasate, and… we feel we’re getting again to the root of it, being with M.A.D, playing smaller shows, bigger shows, taking any show, and finally two months, that’s pretty long…

P- So you feel like a rising

M- Yeah, I think so, I mean, you know, we’re going ahead, let’s see what happens… we love to play you know? We’re not trying to be millionaires, we are in the wrong business if we are trying to do that.

P- Yep, talking about businesses you had been into… first of all, you had been in the murphys, and then turned into being a firemen…

M- Aha, I had been first at Murphys, then been a firemen for 4 years and finally started street dogs, and now, Street Dogs is my full job…

P- You miss anythings from before?

M- Yeah, It has been a great job, you helped out people, it’s a critical service with your people, in your town, you have got a lot of powerful experiences, stressful and rewardings, but ah, sometimes a miss it but I think now I found who I am and what I wanna do so, and ment to do, and this is it.

P- I seen you twice in London with Civet and at Groezrock and, seen you climbing at both events. Is this connected with the firemen stuff? How did you start with this climbing stuff?

M- I’ll be honest, as far as being a frotmen it’s time to push against all the drive and give an extra, and when I do climb, I do a latter training, and the training hehe, it helps.

P- Which was the first time that you decide to get into this?

M- Hmmm, maybe in 2004 when we were at the Warped Tour (no estoy seguro de si no se refería a otro). So, sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn’t. It’s all in how I feel, and of course the structure needs to be there for me to do it.

P- Right, then, any recommendation of a band that you recently discovered?

M- Ha… there’s a band called Off of their heads, from the US, that’s really good,

P- Ya, I saw them in Sant Feliu de Codines!

M- Breek Problems (quien lo lea si sabe el nombre real de la banda que me lo comente ☺ ), it’s a great band, those are the two band that… I like every time I die to , you know, Civet is great, Left Alone, The Aggrolites, Horrorpops that’s a bit of the stuff, I listen to everything, every genre, I listen to a lot of music, I have tones and tones and tones of records, so those are the bands in the punk slash part, you know…

P- Ok, then, let’s turn to the irish idea, this comes from a special place?

M- Well, I grew up in an Irish-American family, so, my grandparents were from there, my uncle Smith got me into, and if you have got someone who marks you and gets you into it, like with the Wolf Tones, and thinks like that, so, that affected the bands that I had before and even now, you know, there are other celtic bands that affected too, I’m not like a guy like Bob Dylan with his music, it’s there, Irish music celebrates the sadness, either if its punk or folk, it celebrates the sadness,

P- And if you were to start a new band with a new style, what would you…

M- Well, I just want to stay Street Dogs alive, that’s the first of all beside anything, I just want to be folky, I don’t want to sit down and write new songs, stealing my guts. Yes. I think that’s it.

P- Then, now we get into the sports stuff! As I can see that you’re wearing a cap from the Red Sox. Last time I saw a show from you, you were asking for Yankees sux stuff,

M- Yes, of course! (comentó algo sobre el inicio del concepto por el que era obvio referir a el en Londres) In America, well more indeed we’re from Boston but, the Yankees-Red Sox is a very important sport rivalry

P- And into this rivalry, I’m not into that much but, you won on 2004 and 2007, but why there was such a gap of years before without winning, who is guilty about that?

M- Well, honestly, in 2004 and 2007 we had hungrier and better teams, teams! Really teams, not individuals! But well, I don’t know if you covered last pair of years, but Yankees were really good, i mean, the rivalry will always gonna be there, it’s pretty intense, and i think this year will gonna be more intense than ever... It has been like that since baseball has grown in America, pretty fucking piece of rivalry, you know, this betrays and other thinks of many players from both sides, like when Red Sox got Johnny Damon and later Yankees got him, big fucking deal! We were pissed off, cause he had won on 2004 with the Red Sox (en 2005 fue para los Yankees), which for many Red Sox fans it was like going to the evil empire, with ____ who proved to be an asshole, so, that’s basicly it!

P- Aha!

M- Yep, when you born in Boston, you come out of the Red Sox man, come out a Sox fan, a Celtics fan, not astonishing right? ☺

P- Maybe, we could say it’s the “team of the people” against the “money team”?

M- Well, in NY it’s pretty emerging that Mets are more the working class team and then the Yankees are more for the upper class people, and Red Sox, in Boston, it’s from every class, it’s the people’s team, rich, middle, poor, everybody, there’s one team in Boston so everybody follows it

P- right, and how much are you into basketball?

M- well, i have been following the Celtics since i was born so… i was excited when they got the title in 2008, i think that if they keep healthy, on the play offs, this year, they’ll gonna be strong, there’s Cleveland in the middle… but Garnett is healthy, so they can contend, i think it’s conciable to think that it will be Cleveland or the Celtics to play against lakers for the finals

P- Let’s see, let’s see… now, as we are into basketball, my mate wanted to state that, you know anything or heard about Rudy Fernandez from the Trailblazers?

M- Ha, No, I don’t . He’s Spanish?

P- Well, we wanted to start from you the promotion so that he gets to the Celtics. He used to play in a team from here, Joventut de Badalona, who as Celtics do, wears green tshirt. We will start a Facebook group promoting his deal to the Celtics.

M- Aha, well that’s good! He’s a good player, then let’s pick it to the Celtics

P- Very good player, but, then, let’s turn into the following topic. Toby has a drinking problem. That’s right?

M- Yah!

P- Then, which is the percentage of wining when he faces a contest on stage against someone from the crowd? Well i seen just a victory, so that’s one-nil, but which the overall mark?

M- Well, he always wins… well.. i would say 90… 95%... well that was burn on the fly, once we made it and we were excited, let’s make a drinking contest, sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn’t, you know, toby starts the competition and people get into it

P- so… you remember anything from this 5%? So that we now that we have a someone overthere around,

M- Well I don’t remember actually a loss…

Toby- ( who was listening to the interview) where I lost? Hmmm Hmmm

P- Yes!

T – Yeah, I lost to a girl

P- Really?

T_- Well, I was sick though,

P- Ah! It’s an excuse, right?

T- Yeah, It is! Actually, I was congestionated, I couldn’t breath, so, I don’t remember where was that… In Philadelphia maybe?

P- Well, honestly good for you that you tried it

T- Of course, I’m always fighting

M- Cheeks man

P- But honestly, when you are not in front of the crowd, are you really worried about your “Toby’s has a drinking problem”? ☺

T- Not. Absolutely hehe.

M- Well… there’re people in that band who should worry more about it

T- You know that expression called boston your balls? Yep, i boston my balls, it’s certaintly because of that. Yeah, I boston my balls, I drink a lot, and that’s it.

M- Then, before we go any further, how do you call the place, Girona? Gerona?

T- Bona nit!

P- Bona Nit is good night, ya. Bona Nit Catalunya would be Good night Catalonia in Catalan

M- Say that again? (writing down)

P- Bona Nit Catalunya

M- bOna Nit Catalunya, Bona nit Catalunya

P- Yes, people form the north here are very proud of their “being” from Catalunya

M- Aha, and then how do I say, hello!

P- Hola

M- Hola Catalunya then? Wow ok!

T- And how do we say, let’s get fucked up! Or let’s get drunk!

P- Catalan, Spanish

T- Whatever it works!

P- Anem a emborratxarnos!

T- A-Nem- A e-mbo-rra-charnus!!!

( y ya degenera un poco sobre que pueden decir, que no… destacar que después nos encontramos a Toby escuchando el concierto de Toy Dolls a nuestro lado entre el publico como uno más. Grandes Street Dogs)
